What is the pharmacovigilance?

It is the science and activity related to the detection, evaluation, understanding and prevention of the adverse effects of medicine or any other possible problema related to them.

What is a adverse effect?

Any unwanted event that occurs during the use of a pharmaceutical product, but that does not necessariliy have a casual relationship with said use. For example: headache, drowsiness, nausea.

What is a suspected adverse drug reaction(SRAM)?

It is an adverse event that appears to be casually related to use of a pharmaceutical product.

Why is important the pharmacovigilance?
  • It is allow to continously evaluate the safety of pharmaceutical products.
  • Allows detection of rare adverse reactions.
  • It helps prevent or reduce adverse effects for the patient, thus improving public health.
